The tropical remnants of Hurricane Helene has forced scheduled work at the intersection of Brandenburg Bypass and Battletown Road to be delayed until next weekend.
According to a statement from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on Friday (9/27) crews will begin replacing the KY 228 eastbound lane asphalt approach to KY 313 with a concrete inlay Friday evening, October 4th. The improvement is designed to withstand torque and twisting produced as heavy vehicles pull in and out of the intersection. Maintenance crews have continually addressed the area to temporarily fill wheel rutting. The concrete inlay provides a long-term solution.
Concrete work is planned over the weekend to minimize traffic disruption. Closure of KY 228 (Battletown Road) will only be on the west side of KY 313 and will last from 6pm Friday (10/4) through 6am Monday (10/7). The Lawrence Street side of Ky 228 will not be affected. Detour signs are in place to direct motorists around the closure.
Any unfavorable weather for the October 4th weekend could alter the expected work schedule.
