
A Scottsville man was arrested early Monday (11/4) morning after domestic dispute according to the Meade County Sheriff’s office.
Just before 1 AM, the Meade County E911 Center received a call from a woman at her residence along Sandy Hill Road near Guston. She stated that her ex boyfriend had shown up behaving drunk and belligerent attempting to gain access to her home. Several neighbors also reported similar accounts of the situation. When Sheriff deputies arrived at the residence, the found 44 year-old Jerry Shawnell Martin of Scottsville, in the yard of the residence where he picked up a cinder block and threw it through the living room window and failed to comply to officer’s commands. Martin got into his vehicle and drove through the yard nearly striking a deputy twice before leaving the residence. Deputies attempted to pursue Martin lost contact with him. They returned to the residence where a short time later they discovered Martin in his vehicle in a neighbor’s back yard.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Martin, who again fled from the area and led to a cornfield and barn on Owen Loop near Irvington where he drove with no headlights and abandoned his vehicle near a barn and fled on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend Martin with the use of a K9 and assistance of neighboring agencies.
Martin was arrested and on charges of attempted murder of a first responder; wanton endangerment of a police officer 2nd degree; fleeing or evading police, 1st degree; burglary 2nd degree; menacing; driving on a DUI suspended license 3rd degree aggravating circumstances; possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle under the influence; and criminal mischief 1st degree.
Martin is lodged in the Meade County Detention Center.
