Louisville Metro police have arrested a man who they say was involved in a trio of bank robbery cases.
Joseph Derrick Hines, 42, was taken into custody on June 5.
His arrest citation says Hines was the suspect of the May 5, 2025 robbery of the Republic Bank in the 5100 block of New Cut Road, along with the May 21 and June 5 robberies of the L&N Bank in the 4700 block of Southern Parkway.
During each of the robberies, a note demanding cash was presented to the bank employee. At least one of the noted stated “this is NOT a joke.”
The citation says Louisville Metro Police Department detectives identified Hines as a suspect after comparing his photo to images from surveillance cameras at each of the robbery locations.
Hines was arrested after detectives conducting surveillance on a car belonging to one of his family members observed the vehicle driving and parking near to the L&N Bank and Hines getting inside. The citation says Hines was wearing the same pants and shoes as the person who committed the robbery.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a large amount of cash stuffed in the front passenger seat. During further searches, investigators found items that connects Hines to several other robberies.
Hines is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to be in court June 16 for a preliminary hearing.
