The man who fired shots at Craig Greenberg during his 2022 campaign for Louisville mayor has pleaded guilty to his remaining charges.
Quintez Brown was already facing more than 17 years in federal prison. At the state level, Brown was charged with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment.
The federal and state cases against Quintez Brown are slowly wrapping up. On July 10, Brown pleaded guilty to the state charges again against him for the February 14, 2022 shooting at then-mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg.
Investigators say Brown shot into the mayor’s campaign office. No one was hit. But the bullet did graze Greenberg’s sweater.
Brown’s attorney said during his federal case that he was mentally ill and showed signs of depression and bipolar disorder. At this sentencing hearing, his attorney claimed Brown had been treated and is competent. His attorney added they are confident in his plea.
Brown pleaded guilty to state charges of attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment. The commonwealth attorney recommended a sentence of 10 years that would be served at the same time as his 17-year federal sentence.
By pleading guilty to his state charges, Brown waived his right to a jury trial. He has been ordered not to have contact with Mayor Greenberg or the other victims.
Brown was returned to federal custody following the hearing.
