The Brandenburg City Council spent about 20 minutes hearing and discussing what can be done to solve maintenance problems at the Maple Grove Apartments at their regular monthly meeting Monday evening (11/10).
Mayor David Pace advised the concerned residents that he and Police Chief Brian Haag had talked to the CEO of the apartments and he is willing to meet with the residents and city officials to try to resolve the issues. Chief Haag ask the representative of the residents to pick one rental unit and list all the issues concerning that unit so he can present them to the CEO of the apartments. Chief Haag advised this would be a good start of documentation of the complaints.
The council heard the first reading of Ordinance 656 adopting changes to the personnel policy. The second reading and vote will be taken at the December regular meeting and if approved will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Chief Haag reported that Halloween went smoothly with the city passing out about 1,200 glow stick. The first annual pumpkin walk was also a huge success with over 3,000 walking the trail at Buttermilk Falls. Mayor Pace thanked the employees of the local Kroger store for donating about 100 pumpkins and the Meade County High School art class for donating about 60 pumpkins and helping decorate them for the event.
The council approved a one time salary adjustment of $1,500 for all full-time and part-time employees except for one part-time employee that has only been with the city for about a week and that person will receive $200.
The Christmas By The River event will be held on Saturday, November 29, from 2 until 6 p.m. The park will be decorated with lights and various scenes throughout the month of December. There will be a donation box a the end of drive through route to help offset the expenses.
