A soldier died Tuesday morning after an incident in a motor pool at Fort Knox.
A spokesperson for Fort Knox said a piece of engineering equipment fell on the soldier while they were working in the motor pool, a facility where units maintain and service vehicles, equipment and machinery.
Emergency responders were called to the scene around 10:30 a.m. The soldier received emergency medical care before being taken to UofL Hospital where they were declared dead.
The identity of the soldier is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
The spokesperson said that the initial indication is that the incident was accidental, but it is being investigated by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division as part of the Army’s standard procedure following a soldier’s fatality.
