
A teen was struck by a vehicle while participating in a 5K run at the Monroe County Watermelon Festival Saturday morning.
According to Tompkinsville Police Department Assistant Chief Tyler Shaw, officers received a call from the Tompkinsville Police Department dispatch about a motor vehicle crash on Center Point Road Saturday around 8:21 a.m.
Upon arrival officers found a 14-year-old boy who had been struck by a motor vehicle. The teen was taken to Monroe County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Later, the 14-year-old boy was airlifted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
