A Bowling Green man is facing charges after police say they responded to a report of an assault at a bar early Thursday morning.
Officers with the Bowling Green Police Department responded to the 900 block of College Street after they received a report of an assault. The victim told police he was sitting at a bar when he was punched by a man.
Employees escorted the man from the bar and he began to walk away going north on College Street, according to police. The man then stopped, pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it in the direction of people on the sidewalk before continuing to walk away from the area.
Police said officers reviewed surveillance video and witness statements and were able to identify the man as 35 year-old Corey B. Ward. Officers found Ward at his home on Candle Court and took him into custody at the Warren County Regional Jail. He is being held under a $6,000 cash bond and scheduled to appear in court on September 18.
Ward is charged with:
Wanton endangerment, first-degree
Assault, fourth-degree
Tampering with physical evidence
Through investigation, officers found the handgun buried in mulch along with clothes that Ward was wearing during the disturbance, according to police.
This case remains under investigation by the Bowling Green Police Department.
