The man responsible for shooting a Munfordville man in the head after beating him in July 2014 was sentenced to two life terms Tuesday (11/03) morning in Hardin Circuit Court.
Octavio Fernandez Correa, 26, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years on charges of complicity to murder and complicity to kidnapping. He also was given a five-year sentence for stealing a vehicle that belonged to Saul Alvarado Flores, 47, before driving him to the Glen Dale Children’s Home in Glendale on July 18, 2014, and killing him. All sentences will run concurrent.
Circuit Judge Ken Howard upheld the plea agreement in the case and called Correa’s actions “brutal circumstances.” Correa accepted a plea deal in September. He faced a potential death sentence.
The body of Flores was found inside his 1993 Ford Mustang wrapped in a blanket with his arms, legs and head taped. Authorities say he died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
