An accident involving two tractor trailers closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 several hours Monday (11/16) afternoon.
A 2007 Freightliner, driven by 37 year-old Smajo Jusufovic of Bowling Green, was traveling northbound 1 mile south of Glendale just after 4 p.m. when for unknown reasons it struck the rear of another trailer being operated by 61 year-old Joseph Howard of Carrollton, Illinois. Jusufovic’s vehicle then burst into flames destroying the truck and trailer.
Jusufovic was transported to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Howard and a passenger, 58-year-old Paul Dickerson of Fairview Heights, Illinois, were not injured.
All parties involved were wearing seat belts.
The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 2 was assisted by the Hardin County EMS, Sonora and Glendale Fire Departments.
