
A Simpsonville police officer has been arrested and charged with several felonies two months after evidence lockers were broken into and drugs, handguns and about $30,000 in cash were stolen.
Officer Terry Putnam, 54, of Simpsonville is charged with first-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, two counts of theft by unlawful taking firearm, first-degree criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking controlled substance, official misconduct and tampering with physical evidence.
The Simpsonville police chief notified Kentucky State Police about the break-in about 1 a.m. on November 6, 2015.
The theft remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort.
