Louisville Metro police believe they have solved three theft cases that happened in close proximity to each other.
Ian M. Carey, 37, of Louisville, who was already being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on other charges, is now facing additional charges of theft by unlawful taking.
The first theft Carey is charged with happened on January 11 when he took a purse at the Panera Bread restaurant at on Hurstbourne Parkway. He is also charged with the January 15 theft of a purse from P.F. Chang’s on Shelbyville Road and admitted to taking a purse on January 16 from the 200 block of N. Hurstbourne Parkway.
Additional charges were filed in the Hurstbourne Parkway case because Carey used the victim’s credit cards to buy gift cards. The arrest reports say heroin use was a factor in the thefts committed by Carey.
