A Hardin County man is facing charges after firing a shot at a Kentucky State Police trooper.
On Saturday (2/06/16) evening Trooper Luke Durbin was attempting to make contact and conduct an interview with 22 year-old Dustin Ray Thomas at 1068 Wonderland Cavern Road in the Cecilia area in regards to a burglary investigation.
Trooper Durbin was unable to locate anyone at the residence and was returning to his car when a shot was fired at him from a detached garage next to the house.
Troopers responded to the area and several attempts were made to contact Thomas with no response. The Kentucky State Police Special response team was deployed to the scene and after several hours Troopers were able to safely take Thomas into custody.
He was charged with Attempted Murder-Police Officer and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. There were no injuries at the scene.
The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 4 personnel.
