
The Meade County Fair Board held their annual Superintendent’s Dinner Monday (3/7) evening in Brandenburg.
The evening began with a meal for all for of the workers who bring together each event of the Meade County Fair. Fair Manager David Pace said over 36,500 people attended the 2015 Meade County Fair which received three award of “Most Progressive Fair”, “Show Your Colors Award”, and the “All Kentucky County Fair Award”. Pace said that the awards show the commitment of the fair board, who works together using all of the resources available to maintain and grow the fair each year.
This year some minor upgrades will be noticed at the 2016 Meade County Fair. Among the updates will include some new work to some of the parking areas, some minor improvements to sound systems, computer upgrades in the fair office, and the a newly redesigned website which should become live within the next 60 to 90 days. Pace said the an agreement with Kissel Entertainment has allowed the gate admission price to remain at $10 for this year’s fair. Pace eluded that might be the case for future years. The schedule will remains the same except for the deletion of the Pony Pull on Tuesday night.
During the dinner, Pace presented board’s nomination of the Fair Person of The Year award to Larry Phillips of Vine Grove. Phillips has been instrumental in establishing a desirable track for the national and regional truck and tractor pulls at the fair along with entertaining the visiting truck teams who come to participate in the pulls. Larry and his wife Linda, own and operate Phillips Brothers Construction in Vine Grove. The Meade County Fair arena track ahs been voted fourth out of twenty three venues in a national tractor pullers survey. The Meade County Fair has previously won top honors from the NTPA.
The 2016 Meade County Fair will be held from July 23 through 30th with pre-fair work days to held beginning July 21. WVIH.com will have complete coverage of most of the fair events along with photos and videos to help you in step with all of the sights and sounds of the Meade County Fair.
