Two people were killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash near Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood.
Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said Monday officers responded to a reported crash around 6:15 p.m. on the Greenbelt Highway at Greenwood Road.
Ellis said based on the preliminary investigation and speaking with witnesses, police believe a vehicle was making a left turn from the Greenbelt Highway onto Greenwood Road when it hit a motorcycle that was headed north on the Greenbelt Highway.
Two people, a man and a woman, were ejected from the motorcycle upon impact, according to Ellis. Both were transported to UofL Hospital where they later died. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 58-year-old Andrea Hill of Seymour, Indiana, and 62-year-old Robert Smallwood, also of Seymour, Indiana.
One person from the vehicle that hit the motorcycle was also taken to the hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
Ellis said no charges have been filed, but LMPD’s Traffic Unit will consult with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to determine whether any charges are warranted as the investigation continues.
