A Louisville man faces second-degree arson charges after he allegedly set his home on fire Monday and told firefighters to “let it go.”
Abdul Al Mousa, 49, was arrested Tuesday morning by the Louisville Fire Department’s Metro Arson Bureau.
Crews with Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS were dispatched at 12:26 p.m. Monday, September 7, on reports of a residential fire in the 3500 block of Sample Way, located in the Forest Springs subdivision.
According to his arrest citation, Mousa allegedly used a rod with an oil-soaked rag tied to the end to walk around the house and set fires in multiple locations. When firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames, Mousa reportedly told them to “let it go.”
Arson investigators noted that while Mousa resides at the property, he does not own the home outright and still holds an active mortgage.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Mousa is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, September 9.
