
A Meade County woman who was report missing was found Wednesday (7/13) morning along the banks of the Ohio River in Wolf Creek.
Linda Mattingly was last seen Tuesday morning when her husband thought she had ran out for a errand but disappeared from a local grocery store parking lot. Mattingly told investigators that she was abducted from the Kroger parking as she stopped entering the parking area.
According to Meade County Sheriff William “Butch” Kerrick, Mattingly said a man approached her in the parking lot of the Kroger, forced her to get into her SUV and drive to the Wolf Creek boat dock. Mattingly said she was then forced to swim in the Ohio River and the man left.
Mattingly’s vehicle was located on the boat ramp around 10:30 am Wednesday (7/13). Officials said the vehicle was unlocked and Mattingly’s keys and purse, which had cash and credit cards, were inside. A short time later Mattingly was found a search boat a couple of miles down river.
Mattingly’s Friends turned to social media Tuesday (7/12) night after Mattingly failed to return home. Vessels said the garage door was left open and Mattingly did not have her cell phone with her. There had been no activity on her bank account since her disappearance.
According Sheriff Kerrick, Mattingly was not injured and she refused medical care. Detectives are currently checking surveillance cameras and conducting their investigation. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Meade County Sheriff’s Office at (270) 422-4937.
