A Tennessee man was charged with unlawful imprisonment and burglary Thursday after negotiating more than four hours with several law-enforcement agencies at a Vine Grove home.
According to Hardin County Sheriff John Ward, officers responded at 5:40 a.m. to Piedmont Street in Vine Grove with claims a woman had been tied to a chair in her own home after her ex-boyfriend, 23 year-old Leroy Smith, forced his way into the residence. The man claimed he was going to harm himself.
Ward said the woman had managed to get free and ran to a neighbor’s home to call police. The sheriff’s department, Vine Grove Police Department, Radcliff Police Department and Kentucky State Police responded and officers negotiated with Smith until he was taken into custody.
He is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
