
The man accused of shooting Simpson County Sheriff’s Deputy Eddie Lawson appeared in Simpson Circuit Court Monday.
Ben Wyatt had his Pretrial Conference scheduled for October 24 at 9:00 am.
According to the circuit court clerk’s office, during that hearing a date for a jury trial is expected to be set.
Wyatt is charged with attempted murder of a police officer, assault of a police officer, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of being a persistent felony offender.
Lawson was serving Wyatt with a warrant when he was shot on March 10, 2016.
