
Two were arrested as a result of an ongoing drug investigation in Meade County.
According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, On January 3, 2017 detectives set up surveillance on a address in Muldraugh and waited for the person of interest. Detectives observed the person of interest leave and return to the the dwelling. Detectives along with marked police units went to the apartment. When the door opened the person of interest, 41 year-old Lanny Batchelder of Ekron was standing behind another person. Police searched the apartment and found 29 year-old Jessica Mumford of Ekron in bed with two small plastic bags near her. Mumford and Batchelder fled the apartment and was apprehended a short time later.
Police seized 72 grams of methamphetamine, $595 cash, baggies and digital scales upon the execution of a search warrant. Batchelder and Mumford were both arrested on charges of trafficking a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana. Both are lodged in the Meade County Detention Center.
