The body of a dead man found last Thursday afternoon behind Sam’s Club in Elizabethtown has been identified as 49 year-old James R. Hawkins of Elizabethtown.
Hardin County Coroner Dr. William Lee identified the man. Elizabethtown police still are awaiting the official report from the Medical Examiner’s Office on a cause of death.
Authorities said last week it appeared the man had been dead between six and eight weeks. The body was located in a field just north of Sam’s Club by two people hitting golf balls into a field.
EPD spokesman Virgil Willoughby said the man had not been reported missing.
The investigation continues.
