A Radcliff woman was arrested late Monday night and charged with fracturing the leg of a child in her care earlier in the day.
Meghan Freeman, 33, is being held in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center. She is charged with second-degree criminal abuse of a child under age 12, a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.
Freeman reportedly told Radcliff police she had become frustrated with the child for not listening and cleaning up “a mess he helped create,” according to Freeman’s arrest citation. Authorities say the child was younger than 4.
According to the citation, Freeman picked the child up in a swinging motion and lost her grip. The fall possibly resulted in a fractured left tibia. According to the arrest report, Freeman told an adult male relative, she did “throw him out of the room” and that she had swung the child too hard.
Freeman is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Friday in Hardin District Court.
