
Circuit Court Judge Robert A. Miller died Monday (09/17) at the age of 64.
Miller served on the 46th Judicial Circuit bench in Meade, Breckinridge, and Grayson Counties since 1999. Prior to that, he served as Meade County Attorney from 1986 to 1999, and was Brandenburg’s City Attorney for many years. He also served as assistant Master Commissioner from the late 1980’s until 1994.
Miller was an active Meade County native, who grew up on a farm in Paradise Bottom, for most of his childhood. He graduated valedictorian of Meade County High School in 1972 and was awarded the L. H. Powell Medal. He played Greenwave basketball, ran cross country, and played in the marching band. He went to graduate with honors from Centre College in 1978, then went onto law school at the University of Kentucky. After obtaining his law license, he returned to Brandenburg to begin his career in the law offices of Wade Richardson.
County offices and Courts in Meade and Breckinridge County will close at Noon on Friday and remain closed over the weekend with all flags to be lowered to half staff in honor of Judge Miller from sun rise Friday (9/21) morning until sunset Saturday (9/22) evening.
Funeral services will be held at 6 pm Saturday (9/22) at the First Baptist Church in Brandenburg. Visitation will be held from 11 am until 8 pm Friday (9/21) at the Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Meade County Angel Tree Ministry.
As far as the Circuit bench, a vacancy will be declared, followed by the appointment of a nominating committee, with the Governor eventually naming a successor.
