A Louisville man was arrested by West Point police Monday night and charged with intending to sell more than 25 pounds of marijuana including pot packaged for vaping and made into gummies.
Nickolas Ferren, 30, was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted, and first offense trafficking in marijuana of more than five pounds — gun enhancement, a Class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, if convicted.
According to the arrest citation, West Point police stopped a 2015 Dodge Ram truck he was driving after police matched the registration plate to an arrest warrant in Jefferson County. When an officer approached the vehicle, a strong marijuana odor was present.
Ferren said he had been smoking marijuana and there was a small amount in the console of the truck, according to the citation.
When police searched the vehicle, they found 26.5 pounds of marijuana, 518 THC vapes, 48 packages of THC gummies, 19 canna cigars as well as a grinder, digital scale, baggies, a .45-caliber handgun and $3,937 in cash.
Ferren is being held in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a partially secured $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear September 27 in Hardin District Court.
