
The Brandenburg City Council worked through a short agenda during their regular meeting Monday (12/12) night.
The council heard an update on the progress of the waste water treatment plant and water treatment plant projects from representatives of GRW Engineers. Joe Pavoni reported that the new waste water treatment plant is now operational and the initial startup issues are being addressed. Crews are awaiting the delivery of a 60 AMP transfer switch for the facility which has been on back order about six months. A walk through evaluation is scheduled later this month on the project.
Shanna Stone of GRW Engineers updated the water treatment plant project. She said the design plans are still being drafted and the electrical plans are beginning to be worked on. The Kentucky Division of Water has approved the process but will have to make an approval on the completed design plans once they have been complete before the City can seek and construction bids.
In other business, the council approved a bid from Phillip Brothers Construction for the extending water and sewer lines to edge of the Chris McGehee property along Battletown Road that was recently annexed into the city limits. The project cost is expected to be around $405,000. The council also approved a bid from EZ Construction in the amount of $937,000 for the downtown sidewalk project along Main Street.
City Clerk Amy Haynes reported that Christmas By The River donations are averaging a $1.01 per car that has traveled through the park so far this season. She said the city has received positive feed back about the activities during the opening event held on November 26. The holiday light event runs through January 1, 2023 in the River Front Park.
At the end of the meeting, Mayor Ronnie Joyner thanked the council all who have worked with him during the past eight year term. Council members commended Joyner for more than 20 years of public service as Mayor and councilmember for the city.
