
Mayor Bryan L. Claycomb has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Brandenburg concerning the water issue throughout the city.

DECLARATION OF A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
June 05, 2023
WHEREAS, on June 05, 2023 a water emergency occurred in the City of Brandenburg, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS; The Water Plant experienced a pump failure due to a water main break.;
WHEREAS, this situation creates a considerable hardship for the citizens of City of Brandenburg; and
WHEREAS, local government has the responsibility to protect the public health, safety and welfare, and to mitigate the effects of such events.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Bryan Claycomb , by the authority vested in me by KRS 39A.100(2), do hereby declare that a State of Emergency exists in the City of Brandenburg for the period necessary to Repair said leak and restore our water service in the City, and direct that:
1. The local Emergency Operations Plan shall be fully executed;
2. The Emergency Management Director shall direct the Meade County DES organization to provide such assistance as can be delivered from available local resources and shall coordinate all agencies of local government to provide assistance to City of Brandenburg;
3. All agencies of the City of Brandenburg shall cooperate to the fullest extent with the Meade County DES organization and shall provide such assistance as may be required for response to this emergency.
4. Under this State of Emergency, as provided in KRS 39A.100 (2) and 45A.380(1)(7) the Mayor Bryan Claycomb can waive procedures and formalities otherwise required by the law pertaining to: a) performance of public work, b) entering into contracts, c) incurring obligations, d) employment of permanent and temporary workers, e) utilization of volunteer workers, f) rental of equipment, g) appropriation and expenditure of public funds.
