A road rage incident Tuesday afternoon ended with two Tennessee men arrested, after police responded to calls of shots fired on I-65 in Barren County.
Kentucky State Police said it happened near the 43-mile marker southbound near Rocky Hill.
According to court records, the victim told police a man in a black Dodge Ram truck shot through the back glass of his car, and they were pursuing one another.
Police were able to make contact with both the victim and the suspects on the interstate near Rocky Hill, where they noticed a verbal altercation was taking place.
Both parties were separated and talked to police.
One of the suspects, 35 year-old Ernesto Martinez admitted to police they threw something from the vehicle, and it struck the victim’s car, causing the back glass to shatter. He later said it was his passenger, 26 year-old Carlos Gonzalez, who threw the object, which he claimed was a glass Coke bottle.
However, the arrest citation notes the victim found a spend round from a handgun “in the trunk area of his vehicle that had traveled and passed through his rear tail lamp.”
No firearm has been recovered at this time, according to the citation.
Both Gonzalez and Martinez, from Goodlettsville, Tennessee, were arrested and taken to the Barren County Detention Center.
No injuries were reported.
