The man who pleaded guilty to trying to shoot then-mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg received his federal sentence Friday.
Quintez Brown, 24, of Louisville, was sentenced to 210 months, or 17 and a half years, on federal charges of interfering with a federally protected right with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm during a violent crime. That sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release.
On Valentine’s Day 2022, Brown entered the Greenberg campaign office and fired six shots at the candidate and the four staff members present. No one was wounded, but there was a bullet hole in the sweater Greenberg was wearing.
Brown ran from the scene and was found by Louisville Metro police in a nearby alley.
The trial was scheduled to begin in August 2024, but Brown entered guilty pleas in July. As part of that plea, he admitted to acting because Greenberg was running for mayor.
