Allen County Schools announced Saturday that a threat was made toward Allen County-Scottsville High School.
In the original letter addressed to parents and guardians from school district leadership, it stated, “We want to inform you that we are aware of a bomb threat to Allen County Scottsville High School for Monday.”
The letter continued, “We take all threats very seriously and are actively working with Kentucky State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsville Police Department and local authorities to assess the situation and ensure the security of the school.”
The Allen County Sheriff’s Office provided an update to their Facebook post later Saturday evening regarding the bomb threat.
“The Kentucky State Police and their K9 units, along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsville Police Department, and District and School Administration, conducted a thorough search of Allen County-Scottsville High School, the Allen County Career and Technical Center, and surrounding area,” said Brian Carter, Deputy Superintendent.
“No threats were found, and officials have confirmed that report was not credible, reaffirming the safety of our schools.”
As a precaution, Allen County Scottsville High School and the Tech Center will remain closed through the weekend and reopen on Monday morning to staff and students.
Police will be providing additional patrols to school properties as an additional measure of security.
