A Mt. Washington man has been arrested after police said he shot at a TARC bus with passengers on board Friday afternoon.
Ronnie Deeley, 22, is facing eight counts of wanton endangerment in addition to other charges after he allegedly shot at a TARC bus, according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
Ellis said Louisville Metro Police’s Downtown Area Patrol responded about 4 p.m. to 4th and Jefferson Streets for a man that was shooting at a TARC bus that had passengers on board.
When police arrived to the scene, several witnesses pointed toward where the suspect was. According to the arrest citation, officers approached the man but he refused the officers’ commands, and kept coming toward them with his hands up. The suspect also asked officers to shoot him. After another officer arrived, officers tried to subdue the man, but he resisted arrest, spitting on three officers.
After officers were able to arrest him, the man told officers he shot at the TARC bus, which had seven people on board. No one on the bus was injured. The man also told police he shot at the Kentucky International Convention Center “several times,” according to Deeley’s arrest citation. The convention center and the Hyatt hotel next door suffered damage.
According to court documents, a woman called 911 and said she was grazed by a bullet.
Police retrieved a handgun from the suspect’s pants. The gun was unloaded, but a extra magazine and ammo were found on him.
Deeley is also charged with resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and disorderly conduct. He is due in court on Saturday.
