
Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision in Meade County Saturday (5/31) night that resulted in a fatality and injured two other people.
Emergency crews in Meade County received a call of a two-vehicle collision near the 4100 block of Payneville Road (KY-144). The preliminary investigation revealed that 20 year-old Robert Eldridge, of Battletown, was operating a 2014 Ford Mustang west when he attempted to pass another vehicle before striking a 2025 Toyota Tacoma head-on in the eastbound lane. The Toyota was being operated by 44 year-old John Kaw, of Louisville.
Eldridge was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner. Kaw and a passenger in Eldridge’s vehicle were treated at the scene by Meade County EMS and then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The roadway was closed several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. Kentucky State Police was also assisted at the scene by Payneville Fire Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
