Louisville Metro Police says officers shot and killed two dogs attacking pedestrians in east Louisville on Saturday.
Officers responded to a call at around 11:10 a.m. of a person being attacked by dogs in the 13000 block of Reamers Road on Saturday, March 21.
At the scene, police found two dogs actively attacking victims and displaying aggressive behavior towards first responders.
Louisville Metro Police Department said due to the immediate threat, officers fired their weapons at the dogs to stop the act, killing both of them.
Three victims were injured during the attack and were taken to UoL Hospital for treatment.
Louisville Metro Police Department said the attack took place at the Shamrock Acres Boarding Kennel and that both dogs were being boarded at the facility.
Shamrock Acres posted on their social media Saturday afternoon, saying that two of the victims were staff members.
According to the post, the third victim acted “quickly and courageously” to intervene during the attack, which Shamrock Acres says prevented the outcome from becoming worse.
Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating the incident in coordination with Louisville Metro Animal Services.
