The Muldraugh Police Department says officers seized a substance believed to be methamphetamine during a traffic stop conducted in response to a reckless driving complaint.
Police said the drug appears to be a form of methamphetamine sometimes referred to on the street as “Meth Quick,” “Strawberry Quick,” or similar names. According to the department, this is the first time officers in Muldraugh have encountered and seized this particular type of suspected methamphetamine.
In a public statement, police said the substance is concerning because it may be packaged or presented in a way that could be mistaken for candy or otherwise appeal to younger people. The department said it is working with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to address the issue.
Police encouraged parents to talk with their children about the dangers of illegal drugs and to remind them not to accept food, drinks, candy or other items from people they do not know or trust.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police did not immediately release additional details about potential charges or the amount seized.
