KY 79 is closed in both directions in Grayson County at the Rough River Lake Spillway Bridge.
The closure comes as an emergency measure prompted by safety concerns. An opening was discovered in the active traffic lane on the older portion of the bridge deck.
State transportation officials say the bridge will remain closed until further notice. A team of engineers is scheduled to inspect the deck of the bridge and develop a plan of action.
The ongoing deck replacement on the bridge will continue during the inspection.
Officials advise motorists to avoid the area and use KY 54, KY 737, and KY 259 as alternate routes.
