The Kentucky Association of School Administrators has named Regina Decker, bus driver at Meade County Schools, as the recipient of the 2026 Fred Award, recognizing the extraordinary care, service and personal commitment Decker brings to students, colleagues and the Meade County community.
The Fred Award was inspired by Mark Sanborn’s bestselling book The Fred Factor and honors school employees who transform ordinary moments into extraordinary ones through service, compassion and leadership. Recipients embody four defining qualities: they make a positive difference each day, have a genuine heart for people, turn ordinary moments into memorable ones and lead by example.
Regina Decker was announced as the statewide winner during the closing general session of Kentucky Association of School Administrators’ 2026 Annual Leadership Institute on Friday, July 31, in Louisville. She received a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 cash award. The school district received a commemorative plaque honoring its culture of service and support.
