A robbery suspect who evaded police and prompted heightened security alerts at several area schools on Tuesday afternoon has been taken into custody.
Louisville Metro Police officers first responded to the area of Dixie Highway and Upper Hunters Trace around 1:28 p.m. regarding a reported robbery suspect. The suspect was able to evade officers during the initial response, triggering a massive search that placed multiple nearby schools on heightened alert.
Louisville Metro Police Department officials announced late Tuesday evening that 47-year-old Jason Mathes was arrested and lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections after several hours on the run.
Police sat Mathes is accused of robbing a Subway, Pizza Hut and the PRP Stop & Go. Police say he also tried to rob a Wingstop on Monday but fled before he received any money.
Mathes faces multiple charges, including several counts of robbery.
