A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after an armed robbery at the Scottsville Road post office Tuesday afternoon, according to the Bowling Green Police Department.
Police say the incident happened just after 4 p.m., when a man walked into the post office, implied he had a gun and demanded cash. He was wearing sunglasses and a face covering at the time. The clerk handed over money, and the suspect left the area on foot.
Officers responding to the scene obtained surveillance video from a nearby business. That footage showed the same man inside without his face covered, and an officer recognized him from prior encounters, according to investigators.
As officers searched the area, one business reported that a man had locked himself in its restroom but left before police arrived. A short time later, another nearby business called to say a man was in its restroom. Officers went to that location, found the suspect and took him into custody.
Police identified the man as 32-year-old Luke H. Bailey, of Bowling Green. He is charged with first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence. He is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail under a $50,000 cash band and is scheduled to appear in court on September 2.
Bowling Green Police was assisted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
