Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle collision in Meade County that claimed to lives just before 1 a.m. on Sunday (09/20).
Preliminary investigation indicates a black 2016 Nissan Pathfinder, operated by 26 year-old Isaac Jenkins of Brandenburg, was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Road (KY 1638) near LG&E Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane. The Nissan Pathfinder hit a silver 2016 Ford Fusion, head-on.
The operator of the Ford Fusion, 26 year-old Trenton Thomas of Brandenburg, and the passenger, 29 year-old Karlie Haycraft of Brandenburg, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner at 1:13 a.m.
Jenkins was transported helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police. Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County EMS, Muldraugh Fire Department, Flaherty Fire Department, Muldraugh Police Department, KY 7 Air Methods and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
