A Nelson County man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping a teenager as detectives look into his interactions with other women.
Garry L. Coulter, 40, of Coxs Creek, is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on $100,000 bond. He was arrested October 15 for kidnapping a minor. Mount Washington police say he is the man in a silver car that had been chatting up women along N. Bardstown Road and offering them rides.
The warrant for Coulter’s arrest was taken out in Bullitt County. It says that on September 19 Coulter “unlawfully restrained a female juvenile” and “his intent was to accomplish or advance the commission of a felony.”
The warrant goes on to state Coulter refused to let the girl out of his car and took her to Jefferson County where he “subjected her to sexual contact.”
The first three incidents happened within a week of each other in mid-September. The final happened October 12 when a woman called police saying a man in a silver car was acting strangely.
Police had been searching for a man driving a silver car involved in four reported incidents. Victims described the driver as a well-dressed white man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5’10” to 6″ tall, freshly shaven and perhaps freshly-barbered, with close-cropped dark hair.
Police say they found Coulter sitting in his car in Appliance Park.
According to police, Coulter had no connection to Mount Washington except that he had to drive through the area from his home in Nelson County to his job in Louisville.
Detectives are asking any other women who have come into contact with Coulter to contact them at 502-538-8143.
