Officials at Eastern Kentucky University say they will look for ways to enhance security at the school more than a week after a death threat was found in a campus restroom.
Executive Director of Public Safety and Risk Management Bryan Makinen said the school is working on a request to engage a third-party vendor to help them assess the school’s infrastructure and give security recommendations.
Makinen said additional security cameras would be welcomed, but “that is going to be heavily dependent on where any activity would take place.”
He said there were security cameras installed at the building where the threat was written, but the cameras weren’t able to see who was in the area.
The death threat discovered on the bathroom wall read: “KILL ALL BY 10/8/15 THIS BU OOP.”
The school cancelled classes on October 7, just before the university’s fall break. After the extended time off, students returned to class Wednesday.
The school is offering a $10,000 reward for information about the threat. Police have received a few leads, but no arrests have been made.
Some students questioned the decision to resume classes given that authorities have yet to make an arrest.
