
A Meade County man died after a early morning accident near Ekron.
According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Department the accident happened around 4:30 am Sunday (8/14) at the intersection of Farris and Shumate Roads. A 1979 Ford F150 driven by 47 year-old Eric Boyd was traveling at a high rate of speed on Farris Road when he failed to stop at the intersection, crossed the road and struck a earth embankment.
Boyd was treated at the scene by Meade County EMS and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods Air Ambulance, where he later died of his injuries.
The Ekron Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Alcohol and speed appear to the main factors in the cause of the accident.
