An Elizabethtown man was arrested late Saturday night by Elizabethtown police and charged with first-degree assault and third-degree terroristic threatening.
According to an arrest citation, Elizabethtown Police Department officers responded to a Nicholas Street residence on a report of a man being wounded by a firearm. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a man who said he had been shot in the foot by Joe Jackson.
Officers questioned 51 year-old Jackson, who said the other man had become “aggressive.” Jackson said he went to his truck, retrieved a shotgun and fired the weapon at the man’s right foot while the man stood in the doorway of the residence.
As police investigated the scene, officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana in Jackson’s truck. A child’s cup was found in the truck containing marijuana, according to the citation.
When officers questioned Jackson about the marijuana, he responded with, “After I get out, I am going to get ahold of you and wreck your world,” according to the citation.
Jackson is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond in Hardin County Detention Center. He is scheduled for video arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
