
A man wanted in connection to a vehicle pursuit on March 5 in Breckinridge County was arrested Sunday (3/12) in Cloverport.
The pursuit occurred when Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Officer Chris Swank observed a white work van, with a broken windshield, driving on the wrong side of the road on Kentucky 105. When Officer Swank attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled at speeds reaching 95 miles an hour, before crashing at St. Mary’s Church Road. The driver then fled on foot. The van was impounded and the driver was indetified.
On Sunday(03/12), acting on a tip, officers from Fish and Wildlife, and the Cloverport, Irvington and Hardinsburg Police Departments, located 38 year-old Thomas Lewis Prewitt at a residence in Cloverport. Prewitt again attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested and lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.
Prewitt is charged with fleeing or evading police(vehicle)-1st degree, two counts of fleeing or evading police(on foot)-1st degree, wanton endangerment- 1st degree, wanton endangerment-2nd degree(police officer), criminal mischief-3rd degree, carrying a concealed weapon, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance, persistent felony Offender & execution of a bench warrant for the court.
