Pieces of metal have led to a recall of more than 900,000 pounds of breaded chicken made by OK Food.
The Food Safety Inspection Service announced the recall Thursday. The chicken was produced between December 19, 2016, and March 7, 2017.
The food was shipped to retail location nationwide and include brands such as Spring River Farms, Sav A Lot, Great Value, Double D Foods, TenderBird, Chickentopia and Smart Foods4Schools.
The company received five complaints from consumers that metal objects were found in ready-to-eat chicken products. The contamination was caused due to a faulty metal conveyor belt.
According to the Food Safety Inspection Service website, there have not been any reports of adverse effects from people consuming the chicken.
Anyone who has purchased the recalled products should either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
