
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating a two-vehicle single fatality crash in Breckinridge County.
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 5:30 P.M. EST, a trooper was conducting speed enforcement on KY-313 near the Flaherty community in Meade County. The trooper observed a 2009 Ford Fusion traveling at a high rate of speed initiated a traffic stop however, the driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit then turned west onto KY-333 before entering Breckinridge County. At the intersection of McDonald Lane, the fleeing vehicle crossed the center line and into the path of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler, operated by 40 year-old Jordan Lynch of Custer.
The operator of the Ford, 51 year-old Rodney Richards, of Radcliff, was pronounced deceased by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office. Lynch was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 14-year-old passenger in Lynch’s vehicle was flown to Norton Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The affected portion of KY-333 was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office, and Breckinridge County EMS.
The collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police’s Critical Incident Response Team.
