A woman was sentenced Friday for a deadly crash that killed two toddlers back in November 2022 in West Point.
The woman behind the wheel, Angela Chapman, was sentenced to 65 years.
Chapman had walked away from a drug treatment facility, immediately went to Walgreens to buy syringes, then went to her dealer’s house.
She was shooting up, driving down Dixie Highway, when she crossed the center line, hitting Jasilyn Gardner and her children, who were on their way home from church.
One-year-old Ja’Rell and two-year-old Ja’Reese Hunter both died in the crash.
Chapman was sentenced to 25 years on each count of murder, plus 15 years for assault for Gardner’s injuries.
The judge, acknowledging it is the worst DUI case he has ever seen in his 27 years on the job, ruled she must serve the sentences consecutively, for a total of 65 years.
