At least four people have been arrested in connection to the Labor Day weekend reports of a large group doing burnouts and donuts in the Iroquois neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed there were multiple reports of pop-up street racing incidents Saturday night.
Marco Rivera, Ariana Rivera, and Jose Cortez Rivera are three of the four listed as co-defendents. Their arrest records said LMPD’s air unit spotted a vehicle doing burnouts and donuts around 11 p.m. on September 1 at Cox Park after the park had closed.
By the time officers caught up to them on 7th Street Road, they said there were multiple weapons and magazines in the car. All three were arrested and booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. They are all younger than 21, so they are charged with carrying a concealed weapon and criminal trespassing.
On Tuesday, LMPD Interim Chief Paul Humphrey had a warning for other drivers.
“We are not going to allow this to happen, plain and simple,” Humphrey said. “When we get information that it’s going to happen, we are going to address it. We are going to be out there in force, and we are going to make sure we seize these cars, we take people to jail, we issue citations, we seize their guns, and we make sure that it is unacceptable, and they know they’re not going to get away with it.”
