A former Glasgow detective was acquitted of a harassment charge following a trial in Monroe County last week.
Guy J. Turcotte had been accused in early 2023 by a woman at a Glasgow pet store who claimed he inappropriately touched her and signed a piece of paper with a heart. He was later fired following an administrative hearing conducted by Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse on July 18, 2023.
On September 27, a jury found Turcotte not guilty and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought back to court, according to court documents.
Judge Kristi Castillo presided over the trial, with Matthew Baker serving as Turcotte’s defense attorney.
The trial was moved to Monroe County after a change of venue was requested.
Turcotte had served as a detective until his termination, and prior to that, he held various positions with the Glasgow Police Department, including chief. He ran for Barren County sheriff in 2022 but was unsuccessful.
Following his dismissal, Turcotte filed a lawsuit against the Glasgow Police Department and the city of Glasgow. The lawsuit was dismissed in Barren Circuit Court but is currently on appeal.
