
The community is mourning the passing of local businessman and former 27th District State Representative Jeff “Frog” Greer.
Greer was a 1982 graduate of Meade County High School where he was a proud member of the Greenwave football team. He then graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987 where he earned his BBA in Marketing. He served in many positions to help improve and give back to the community that he so greatly loved. He was the owner of Greer Insurance (1990 – Present); served on the Meade County School Board of Education (1993-2006); a Kentucky State Representative for District 27 (2006-2019); former Chairman of the Banking and Insurance Committee for the Kentucky House of Representatives; member and former Director of Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky; member and Former Director of the Meade County Chamber of Commerce; member of the Rotary Club; and member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church.
Greer was honored to serve Meade County and worked hard on behalf of his community. Some of his proudest accomplishments include new road and infrastructure projects like Hwy 313, and his influential role in raising Kentucky’s “dropout age” to 18 years old. As a result of his many achievements and contributions, he was recently inducted into the Meade County Alumni Hall of Fame on June 7th, 2025.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (7/19) at 12:00 Noon from the David T. Wilson Elementary School in Brandenburg were visitation will be held from 12 until 8 PM Friday (7/18). Complete funeral arrangements can be found here.
