The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the lane closures on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge will continue through the end of the year.
The right three lanes and right shoulder of the I-65 South bridge, which carries traffic from Clark County, Indiana, to Louisville, Kentucky, will be closed as crews work to replace the bridge’s expansion joints. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said drivers will continue to have access to I-64 and I-71 ramps during construction.
The transportation cabinet said an extra lane closure will begin at 9 a.m. on July 29 and continue until 3 p.m. while crews install barrier walls on the bridge. The right four lanes will be closed during this time. The left two lanes will stay open, and drivers will still have access to I-64 and I-71. The transportation cabinet said to use caution and expect delays.
The left three lanes of the Kennedy were closed in February of 2025 to work on damaged expansion joints on the Indiana side, according to officials. The left three lanes reopened in early April.
